The Challenge
Snowbit’s primary ask was to build test runners that can scan Cloud and SaaS platforms to generate reports on security configurations. This will enable users to monitor their cloud environments and ensure they meet the latest security standards.
Our Goals
Our comprehensive objectives were to:

Build a serverless platform for test runners and run the test runners against user’s cloud platforms to generate security configuration reports.

Ensure constant cloud monitoring and implementation of security standard best practices.

Build more test runners for platforms like Google Workspace, Slack, and Office 365 in the next development phase.

Reduce manpower costs and stress in managing the security team and ancillary infrastructure.

Run cloud environments on demand or at regular intervals on users’ platforms. Ensuring that each invocation is isolated to avoid overlap between test runs of each user/tenant.
Impact
Optimizing Resource Utilization.
AntStack’s Serverless Platform has enabled Snowbit users to integrate their cloud and SaaS environments with Snowbit’s applications for optimal resource utilization. The test runners, now scripted in Python and built on AWS Lambda, run on demand or at predetermined intervals to scan against predefined test cases and generate a report on environment configuration quality. Furthermore, the system offers recommendations on integrating best practices to minimize exposure to known vulnerabilities.
Automating Test Results.
Snowbit faced a significant challenge in automating test results due to limited API support on specific platforms where AntStack ran the test runners. However, AntStack overcame this challenge by integrating automation tools to ensure that the required tests were performed. As the systems were expected to run on demand or at regular intervals within users’ cloud environments, the serverless approach by AntStack turned out to be the most efficient and cost-effective solution.
Security Powered by Automation
To improve efficiency, Snowbit Orchestrator integrates with the system, triggering internal alerts whenever issues are detected on the Coralogix platform for any client environment. Without the Orchestrator, monitoring and managing alerts would be a tedious process. The new solution automates this process, ensuring that the security team is promptly alerted of high-priority issues, and the required Service Level Agreement (SLA) is met to resolve or work on the alerts.
Streamlining Productivity
Snowbit faced the challenge of heavy reliance on human resources for monitoring clients’ security environments, with a manual report generation process prone to errors. By transitioning to Antstack’s serverless platform, Snowbit has achieved better resource utilization and productivity. Automating these processes has not only reduced human intervention but also made them error-free, significantly enhancing overall productivity.
Cost-Effective Security Management
Snowbit’s security team was previously responsible for manually checking security environments, placing significant pressure on leadership and senior management to ensure team efficacy. This added cost and pressure have been reduced through AntStack’s Cloud (AWS) Test Runners, built-in to automate the process and minimize the need for leadership involvement.
A startup within the organisation
AntStack performed as a startup within the Snowbit organization, achieving unparalleled results through the development of Cloud (AWS) Test Runners. While the systems are still in the development stage, Snowbit is poised to launch the product that AntStack has been building. In the next phase of the development process, AntStack will continue working closely with the client to build additional test runners and scanners for popular platforms such as Google Workspace, Slack, and Office 365.
